Numbers

Numbers 7

Offerings of the Leaders

Numbers 7:1-9

Moses was commanded this in Exodus 40:9-10.  He carried it out in Leviticus 8:10-11.  The leader of each tribe brought his offering to the Lord.  The leaders of Israel brought their offering before the Lord.  There was a cart for every two leaders, an oxen from each.  These were for service to the tabernacle, consecrated to service of the Lord.    The carts were given to the Levites who distributed them as needed for moving of the tabernacle.

Numbers 7:10-83

The presentation of the dedication offerings lasted 12 consecutive days as each tribe made their offering.  They offered a silver dish of 130 shekels, a silver bowl of 70 shekels and a gold pan of 10 shekels along with the animals and grain offerings.  These were the startup provisions for the function of the tabernacle.

Numbers 7:84-89

We get a glimpse of the wealth of this nation in this wilderness setting.  How fascinating that Moses went into the tabernacle and heard the voice of the Lord from above the mercy seat.  This on the heals of the building of the tabernacle and all the details of putting into service.  Then all the tribes bring these provisions of dedication.  It was all the nation, community at work for the glory of God.  The Lord then is in their presence and speaking to them.
