1 Chronicles 15

The Ark Brought to Jerusalem

Verse one gets our attention right away; David gets houses and the ark of God gets a tent. David has gotten wiser since the last time he tried to move the ark and costing Uzza his life. He is now moving the ark God's way. David got the proper people, then he told them to prepare themselves in the proper way. This sanctification means to make your self holy; it was to separate your self from uncleanness. All of Israel was involved in bringing the ark to Jerusalem.

David apointed doorkeepers and many muscians of every kind. Music was certainly an important of praise and worship. The Sheminith in verse 21 is referred to in Psalm 6; it's a musical word indicating a style or type of accompaniment.

David wore a linen ephod; these were the clothes of a priests. Among the shouting, trumpets, cymbals, stringed instruments and harps the king danced and played music to the Lord. Michal saw this and despised him; she was Saul's daughter and she was bitter toward David's reign as king in the place of her father.
