The Ark Placed in the Tabernacle
David's song of Thanksgiving
Regular Worship Maintained

1 Chronicles 16:1-6

David brought the Ark to the tabernacle he built for it in Jerusalem. This entire event is characterized by fear and reverence of the Lord. They showed the proper regard and form to all that was done. Gone were the fears and concerns coming from the first time they moved it. Obedience puts us in a place of trust and there is no place for fears.

David shares this event with all of Israel. Sacrifices were made in the temple and then bread, meat and a raisin cake were given to everyone there. It becomes personal to each one there; everyone took part in worship and everyone was blessed.

Some particular Levites were appointed to commemorate, thank and praise God. This was praise and worship and making God's name known to all. I think as a kingdom of priests, we are all appointed to this task now.

1 Chronicles 16:7-36

David brought Psalm 105 to Asaph to commemorate the day. It seems to be joined up with part of Psalm 96 at verse 23. And then at verse 34 picks up part of Psalm 106.

1 Chronicles 16:37-43

David appointed Levites to take care of the day to day business of the ark as detailed in God's law. David was committed to obedience and the must have also been seen by the people. They were giving thanks to the Lord because His mercy undures forever. As the king goes, so go the people.
