David Prepares to build the Temple
God moves through the judgment of David's sin to bring worship to the threshing floor of Ornan. This became the sight for the future temple. The next several chapters detail David's preparation of materials and people for the temple of God.
The aliens were non-Israelites living in Israel; however, this seems to be forced labor of foreigners in conscription to Israel. David assigned builders and craftsmen of every kind needed. He saw Solomon as too young to understand how magnificent this needed to be, so he made the plans and preparations. Then he set Solomon to building the temple and called all the leaders of Israel to support this project. All this was to be done for the Name of the Lord.
