1 Chronicles 29

Offerings for Building the Temple
David's Praise to God
Solomon Anointed King
The Close of David's Reign

David set his affection on this work of the Lord and then led by example in this lavish gift on top of all that was provided for the building. Three thousand talents of gold is 112 and a half tons. Whether this was actual weight or he was using hyperbole doesn't matter; it was more than anyone could imagine at that time.

David asked who would do this; who would accept this charge and set themselves apart for this work. The leaders all stepped forward with their offering; offering willingly. This led to great rejoicing and praise. David offered a Psalm of praise for the occasion.

Solomon is then anointed as king of Israel and a great celebration ensues including sacfices and feasting. The transition of power was complete.
