Furnishing the Temple
This book doesn't offer a description of Solomon's palace as 1 Kings 7 does. There are also more details in 1 Kings. The Chronicler moves right into describling the furnishings of the temple. The bronze sea was 'cast' as one piece. The The twelve oxen it stood on were probably a different castings. A handbreadth was the width of four fingers pressed together – about 3 inches. Three thousand baths was 17,500 gallons; this varies from 1 Kings 7:26. This bronze sea was for the washing of the priests. The ten lavers were for the washing of the burnt offerings. These lavers held 230 gallons according to 1 Kings 7:38-39.
