2 Chronicles

2 Chronicles 5

The Ark Brought into the Temple

2 Chronicles 5:1

The house of the Lord was completed in 960BC. Solomon had become king abour 971BC; he started the temple construction about four years later in 967BC and finished it seven years later. Upon completion, Solomon brought all the things David had dedicated. These were the spoils of war; silver, gold and furnishings all dedicated to the service of the Lord.

2 Chronicles 5:2-10

Solomon did not make the same mistake his father made in regards to moving the Ark of the Covenant. He assembled all the elders, tribal leaders and the chief fathers of Israel that together, they might bring the ark from the tent in Jerusalem to the Temple. This happened in the seventh month which would have been during the Feast of Booths. This was a great event; as the Levites moved the Ark, there was great sacrificing of sheep and oxen. God had blessed them with deliverance from Egypt and as they celebrated they brought the ark to its permanent place in the Most Holy Place. God had blessed them with a temple.

At one time the ark contained the tablets of the law, Aarons rod and a jar of manna. The tablets of law was all that remained in the ark at the time it was set in Solomon's temple.

2 Chronicles 5:11-14

While the priests served in rotations and all had their own duties, they came together for this event. They didn't worry about their divisions but were all sanctififed together. This was quite a praise band as they were all together, clothed in white having stringed instruments, harps and cymbals. Another 120 were trumpeters to join in with the large contingent of singers and their voice came was a one. Together, as one, they priased God for His goodness and everlasting mercy. The glory of the Lord filled the house.
