Ezekiel

Ezekiel 47

The Healing Waters and Trees
Borders of the Land

Ezekiel 47:1-2

Ezekiel was taken to the door of the temple to notice the water flowing from under the temple.  It was flowing from under the right side, along the south side of the altar.  Then under the wall and to the east.  See Zechariah 14:4-9.

Ezekiel 47:3-6

The man is the angelic being, Ezekiel's tour guide.  He started the tour with the rod and line to measure with.  With the line he measured 1000 cubits, 1750 feet or 1/3 mile.  At that distance the water came up to his ankles.  Then after another 1/3 mile it came to his knees, then another 1/3 it came to his waist.  At 1-1/3 mile the water was over his head and the river could not be crossed.  Ezekiel was to make sure he noted this (have you seen this).  It made no sense in the human mind.  The living waters of the temple swelled to a torrent with no explanation.

If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water."(John 7:37b-38)

Ezekiel 47:7-12

The water will run to the east into the valley along the Jordon between the Sea of Galilee to the Dead Sea.  The water will then run to the Dead Sea and it will need a new name because the waters will be healed.  It will quickly be full of fish.  En Gedi is along the wester shore, En Eglaim is unknown.  The fish will be like that of the Mediterranean Sea.

Some places along the Dead Sea will still be filled with salt deposits – as a reminder of what was once dead.  Along the banks will be trees that give fruit monthly that will be food as the leaves are used for medicine.

Ezekiel 47:13-23

The land of Israel is marked off.  Some of the locations are unknown.  An inheritance is laid out for Israel, the Lord makes provision for the stranger also.  They will be able to dwell in the land as if it were theirs also.  The children will be treated as if they were native born and they will receive an inheritance.
