1 Chronicles

The book of Chronicles is written to tell the story of God’s people from the garden to the return from exile.  From there, the story was continued in the books of Ezra and Nehemiah.  While we see parallels between the book and Second Samuel, as well as First and Second Kings at times, it often provides more information regarding the kings of Judah.  It is primarily concerned with the line of David and the history of the kings of Judah.  This was essential history for Ezra, as the Jews returned from Babylon.

The focal point is the priestly and kingly lines, which aim to restore and maintain the throne and temple worship.
